It is really neat to see this. It clearly shows that Twitter has an older demographic. But, as Digital Surgeons points out, “Facebook is much larger with 500 million users compared to Twitter’s 106 million, but did you know that 52 percent of Tweeters update their status every day while only 12 percent of Facebook users do the same? How about the fact that half of Twitter’s users are in college compared to only 28 percent of Facebook users.”

Consider these interesting factoids:

Nearly half of Facebook users over age 35: A significant 48% of Facebook users are over age 35 (iStrategyLabs), putting to rest the idea that Facebook is just for college kids.

Facebook marketing on the rise: More than 75% of marketers plan on increasing their use of Facebook in 2010, according to the 2010 Social Media Marketing Industry Report. There are more than 3 million active Facebook business pages.

Mass consumer adoption of Facebook: 141 million unique U.S. visitors trafficked Facebook in June 2010, up 11 million from the prior month and nearly double from a year ago (ComScore). With more than 500 million users, Facebook reports that more than half use the site daily.

Facebook users spend more money: People who spend the most time on Facebook also spend the most money online, according to ComScore.

Small businesses are dominant players: Small businesses are cashing in quickly on social media and Facebook. Surprisingly, half of small businesses using social media say lead generation is its top benefit (Small Business Marketing Forecast 2010).

Dear Fellow Marketer;

Are you using Facebook but not getting the results you hoped for?

Could you use some guidance and fresh ideas?

Yes, the allure of Facebook is strong: Direct connections with customers (and prospects) who were previously unreachable.

This means greater exposure and more business opportunities—all without the enormous costs of traditional marketing.

And given this economy, who doesn’t want more business!

But if you’re like me, you’re looking to choose your Facebook activities wisely, without becoming consumed by all the options. You simply want to know what works best.

Social Media Examiner is happy to announce an online event designed to help marketers and business owners quickly achieve Facebook success-Facebook Success Summit 2010.

Twenty-one of the world’s most respected Facebook experts have come together to share their strategies (see the great lineup in the box to the right). They’ll reveal all the latest techniques and proven business-building tactics you need to know to immediately benefit with Facebook.

If you (like so many) find yourself confused by all that Facebook has to offer, now’s your chance to achieve Facebook marketing success.

This fully online conference starts Tuesday, October 5, and runs through October 26.
It’s comfortably spread over many weeks (and recorded for later playback) to accommodate your schedule.

Consider this: 95% of attendees at our last two events said they’d recommend it to a friend and attend again (see their testimonials below). Now we have an all-new slate of dynamic sessions fully focused on Facebook marketing.

Be sure to secure your spot in the only online professional development conference for businesses seeking to master Facebook marketing.

P.S. In case you’re wondering, Facebook marketing involves connecting with customers and prospects via Facebook’s active 500 million-member community. The result: you’ll increase exposure, improve customer satisfaction, build strong brand advocates and achieve sales growth.

P.P.S. Can I be blunt? Studies show that consumers prefer to work with businesses that have a strong social media presence. It’s not too late to get your business engaged with customers (and prospects) via Facebook. But if you wait, you’ll be giving your competitors a significant advantage that’ll be hard to overcome.

P.P.P.S. You don’t need to do this alone. If you like the thought of joining a welcoming community of like-minded peers (2500 people attended our last event!) who’ll share their experiences and wisdom as you journey together down this road, keep reading…

Yes, you’ve heard about Facebook. But did you know Facebook is the second most trafficked website in the world, just behind Google (according to Alexa)?

Facebook has fully permeated popular culture across the planet. But this is not some flash-in-the-pan phenomenon—and it’s not just for kids.

And these recent statistics are just a small sample of the power of Facebook.

So the big question is: What do experienced marketers and business owners know and do with Facebook that makes them so successful?

If you knew that—if you knew step-by-step how the pros create and execute Facebook pages and campaigns to attract high-quality customers and achieve success—you could simply duplicate what they do and achieve similar results.

That’s what Facebook Success Summit 2010 is all about. We’ve brought together the world’s most successful Facebook practitioners and asked them to reveal their success secrets to YOU. And it’s all live!

And the best part? You don’t have to spend a small fortune on travel, meals or a hotel to attend. The conference is completely online. You “attend” from the comfort of your own home or office, using your computer to watch, listen and participate in the presentations and networking.

However, like any conference, there’s a limit to how many people can fit in the “room.” So if you’re interested in connecting with valuable customers and prospects, enhancing your image in your industry and improving sales, secure your spot at this conference today.
First, you don’t need to be a techno-geek or twenty-something to use and benefit from Facebook marketing. You might be surprised to learn that most social media marketers are aged 30 to 60 and have only been using social media for just a few months.

If you find yourself in one of the categories below, the Facebook Success Summit 2010 is a fit for you:

The Small Business Owner: You’re just getting underway with Facebook—likely a consultant, coach, local business owner, writer, blogger, artist or general “gun for hire”—and see the potential of Facebook marketing, but want to speed your path to success with the least effort and the greatest return.

The Corporate Marketer: You work for a corporation and have been tasked to manage the company’s Facebook initiative. You likely face internal battles to convey how Facebook could help the company, but you know there’s real potential.

The Experienced Social Media User: You’ve been using Facebook for a while, but want better results. You’re ready to take your business to a whole new level by following the proven tactics of the pros and leveraging new techniques. Better response. Less work. More profitability.

How It Works

Studies frequently show people who attend such professional development events are more successful, reach their business goals faster, enjoy their work more, build better relationships and earn a higher income!

1. Though this summit will take place online, it will be a live event.

The instructors will be presenting their sessions live in real time, right on your computer screen. You can listen and watch their presentations, and speak directly to the experts, asking questions and getting instant answers.

When you register, you’ll be given a link and access information for each session. When the date and time arrive, you simply pull up your web browser, go to a web page, type in your log-in information and, voilà, you’re “there.” It’s the virtual equivalent of walking into a room at a live conference and sitting down!

2. You can interact live with the presenters.

That means you can actually speak with the social media superstars.

During each session, you’ll hear and see the lessons (so be sure to turn on your computer speakers!). The virtual room also offers interactive capabilities beyond what is possible at live conferences. You can participate in instant polls and download presentation slide decks to print out for note-taking.

Just like regular conferences, most sessions last about an hour, and will offer an opportunity for live questions and answers.

If you want to ask a presenter a question, we’ll provide a toll-free number you can dial. A real operator brings you on the line (like a radio talk show) and you speak directly to the experts!

We also provide a private forum where you can interact with presenters and fellow attendees. You also get a downloadable video recording of each session and transcripts.

3. Of course, networking is a big part of this event…

Many people who attend our professional development summits report the relationships they establish with fellow attendees are priceless… relationships that often continue to be a source of advice and support for years to come.

Between sessions, you can network with other summit attendees on the exclusive Facebook Success Summit 2010 forum—available ONLY to event registrants (at one of our prior events, more than 1200 messages were generated in our private event forum).

You also get access to our private LinkedIn group (our last event had 1500 people networking in our LinkedIn group), and access to Twitter-based chat rooms where you can interact live with your peers.

We’ll provide a certificate of achievement for attendees who successfully complete the summit.

This event was designed by marketers for marketers. That means we built it to accommodate your busy schedule. We’ve spread the summit out over 4 weeks, with multiple sessions each week.

You don’t have to stop working to attend (AND you can begin applying what you’ll discover immediately). The audio and video from each session are recorded, and transcripts are included for further study.

You’ll get access to recordings for up to 12 months after the live event.

When are the session dates?

Where is the event located?

At your home or office. Because this is an online event, there is no physical venue and no travel expenses. And you’ll get the recordings, so if you miss a live session, no worries.

Will there be transcripts?

Yes. We will provide transcripts of each presentation in Adobe PDF. This will allow you to study and scan the content of each presentation.

How long are the sessions?

Most of the sessions are one hour in duration.

How can I ask questions during the summit?

Two ways. First, during the live presentations, you will be able to dial a toll-free number (U.S. and Canada) and speak directly with the presenters during the live Q&A portion of the session. Second, we have set up an interactive forum. This is a place where you can post questions and get answers from your peers and the presenters (and this can happen the moment you sign up!).

Can I purchase just a single session?

You can attend any or all of the sessions (or catch the recordings if you miss any). However, a summit ticket is like a Disneyland ticket-you get access to everything.

What if I still have questions?

Two options here… First, you can try our live support chat window below. You can also send an email to fbsummit10@socialmediaexaminer.com and we will get back to you right away.

Word of mouth advertising has always been the best (and cheapest) form or advertising and now with social media tools such as twitter and Facebook, it is even easier to help people spread the word for just about anything, even your brand.

In a survey last year by Nielsen online, they showed that 34% or respondents completely trusted something when it came from a recommendation from someone that they knew. Think about it, if your friend come in talking very positive about a service or product and you have the slightest bit of interest in it, you will probably ask who makes it or where do I get one. I know I am like that.

So if your company or business has a product or service and people talk about it off line, then I would be to your advantage to get them to talk about it online as well. Say you own a restaurant and you meet the guests and they have a wonderful meal. Let them know your restaurant is on Facebook and share the page with everyone that comes in. Now, your customers can share their experience with you and other customers online. Now their friends will see it and be like, “hmmmm, maybe we should go to that restaurant Jim was talking about last week…”.

And here are some amazing statistics on Facebook. With numbers like these, you should make sure you take advantage of Facebook and other social media platforms for your company or business.

* People spend over 500 billion minutes per month on Facebook

Activity on Facebook

* Average user is connected to 60 pages, groups and events
* Average user creates 70 pieces of content each month
* More than 25 billion pieces of content (web links, news stories, blog posts, notes, photo albums, etc.) shared each month.

For example, you can now view my Facebook page as http://www.facebook.com/davidzielski, instead of something like http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=[some huge number].This is a great thing for people who use Facebook and put their Facebook links on their business cards.

Log in to Facebook and you should have a link to choose your username in the upper left-hand corner — or just go to http://www.facebook.com/username/ and attempt to select your username there.

You may feel that Facebook is not that important to your online presence — but if you change your mind in the future, it might be too late to claim the username you want. But remember, once you pick this address, it cannot be changed.

There is an easy application offered by Facebook to link to a Twitter account. It allows for seamless updates when you post to the Facebook Fan Page to appear in the Twitter stream. The requirements are that you are the administrator of a Facebook Fan page and a Twitter account.

After logging into your Facebook account, use this link: http://www.facebook.com/twitter/ This should bring up a screen that shows the Pages you administer.

Facebook To Twitter

It should bring up the following screen:

Facebook To Twitter

Now all you have to do is enter your Twitter account information and you will be all set. Now, whenever you post anything to your Facebook Fan Page, it will automatically update Twitter.

Hope this helps!
